Charter picks Motorola CMTS for VoIP support
Jeff Baumgartner, CED
Charter Communications has selected Motorola Broadband's flagship cable modem termination system (CMTS), the Broadband Services Router 64000, to support the MSO's rollout of IP telephony services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
It's expected that Charter will soon make further vendor selection announcements related to its VoIP efforts.
Motorola's BSR 64000, picked up in 2001 via its acquisition of RiverDelta Networks, is qualified for DOCSIS 1.1 and supports DOCSIS 2.0 specifications.
Motorola's CMTS "was selected for its robust carrier-class features, including redundancy, DOCSIS 2.0 support, PacketCable support, advanced routing capabilities and overall performance," said Charter Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Operations Wayne Davis, in a release. |
