Devin Derby makes some of the best wines in the Valley. Unfotunately, they are also quite expensive. L'Ecole No. 41 has a "Schoolhouse Red" that is quite good and doesn't cost an arm and leg. lecole.com If you like whites, their Semillon is excellent. Dunham Cellars also has some excellent wines. dunhamcellars.com Assuming the recent cold snap didn't do a major kill of the vines in the area, I plan to dip my toe into winemaking with a barrel of Pearson Cellars merlot.
