Joe, It seems that the liberals are willing to turn a blind eye to the PC dogma (Man shall eat grain) when they see it does not work. Well, that's progress, and Clinton has always been a pragmatist.

South Beach diet is, as far as I know, a variety of Atkins, Zone or Protein Power diet that have been around much longer. It seems that every successive author just rips off the same basic principles and comes up with a new fancy name.

Have you read the book? I'm reading it right now, and it seems the author is a straight-shooter. He mentions Dr. Atkins and admires him for going against the high-carb establishment, though as a fellow cardiologist he didn't like how the Atkins diet excluded "good carbs" and allowed "bad fats." The way I see it, the South Beach diet is a refinement of the Atkins diet, not necessarily a rip-off.

I agree about the PC dogma, though. Wasn't it not too long ago that high fat foods were considered "evil" by the liberal establishment? You have to hand it to the doctors and the scientists who dare to go against the establishment to find the truth.
