John,

I've been a physician for twenty-three years and I can tell you that bilirubin tests are common, accurate and very cheap. Bilirubin tests are done on almost all "Chem Panels" -- on automated machines. It's just a general screeing test, done in a batch on every newborn.>

Can you please explain the difference between the test you refer to and this explanation of a Bilirubin test:
______________________________________________________________________

How Bilirubin test is performed on Infants:
The area is cleansed with antiseptic and punctured with a sharp needle or a lancet. The blood may be collected in a pipette (small glass tube), on a slide, onto a test strip, or into a small container.

Cost:
As part of a Chem-20 test, the estimated cost is $44.
A serial serum indirect bilirubin test is $78.

I would greatly appreciate if you, or others, could email me links which you feel would be beneficial for the CCSI research site.

Thanks,

Cheryl

P.S. If anyone emailed me some links last week, could you please re-send. I left them in Houston. Sorry.
