Repubs are grabbing at any straw to try to make economy look great. That early Jan consumer sentiment was merely after-Xmas sale shoppers stocking up on christmas bargains for 2004 gift giving & taking advantage of drastic price cuts on winterwear & luxury merchandise. GW supporters translate that into surge in consumer confidence. It's not & won't be until Pres Bush addresses offshoring of jobs & curtails flood of wage-eroding, dirt-cheap labor.
