My general ideology is that, in most cases, Occam's Razor applies and that the large majority of humanity's mishaps are the result of incompetence, stupidity and greed, and not of complex criminal conspiracies.

A not exactly dissimilar point of view :o)

Random-- it's all random. Just don't be fooled by thinking things aren't RANDOM! Just work from the risk/reward perspective of probability-- and you won't be blown-up by a RANDOM act.
