"Bought" is such a nasty word, for keeping my own money. :P

Yes, I hesitated before using the word. I didn't mean to offend, but I frame the question differently. I take your point about keeping your own money. I think you should keep it, too, as I should keep mine. But I think the politicians have used that as an inappropriate slogan. If I go on a spending spree and run up credit card bills, then declining to pay them is not "keeping my own money." It is something else for which there are also some nasty words.

You really can manage your costs, with a bit of planning.

I admire your fortitude. But all that planning would leave a bad taste in my mouth and diminish my eating pleasure. <g> My father is a product of the depression so frugality is something that gives him more pleasure than food. To each his own. As long as he's getting enough nutrition (he's ninety so I have to keep an eye on him), I don't intervene.

It's been a long time since I planned and budgeted. Fortunately, I'm not a much of a spendthrift. I can buy whatever I want when I want it and still stay in the black so I just let nature, my human nature, take its course without any artificial constraints. Laissez faire budgeting. Works for me.
