Mqurice, Re: Qualcomm / new Globalstar –

Thanks for your insight and the link to your “old” post.
The major flaw in the “business plan” was the “partnership” with the major carriers (VOD) and the disincentive for them offer service at competitive pricing and lose their lucrative roaming revenue as you explained back in ’02-

>>>
There is a lot of competition getting in trouble when we cut our price below 40c a minute and at 15c a minute, <<<<<<

Apparently not many wanted to venture into the Globalstar “mess” as Thermo picked up the pieces for only $43 million.

Snip from GSTRF thread post>>>>
The agreements completed late last week will give Thermo an 81.25% ownership of the new company that will eventually take control of substantially all of Globalstar's assets and
operations, in exchange for a cash investment of up to $43 million. <<<<

A couple of more questions, if you don’t mind and when you have the time-

1. Do you have any insight re: Thermo and its backers and how “serious” they may be resurrecting this business?

2. I believe the original life of the constellation was around 10 years and I later read something that it could be viable for several (5?) more years. Do you have any insight as to how many years are left on the original constellation.

3. Do you recall the monthly revenue/ operational expenses (without the amortization of debt) ?

4. Is it your understanding that Thermo is on the hook for all operational expenses and the Q will not be required to fund operational expenses?

TIA- jim
