That's a cop out. Yes one can design tests to prove that the Sun rises in the west.

That's not what usability testing is about. It's not about proving something. It's about getting important information as objectively as possible. Information about how users react to a widget should be useful to the designers so they can confirm, alter or scrap the concept.

As I mentioned before the fact that you love the bouncing icons proves nothing. It's a totally subjective observation. It has no relevance to the discussion of this UI widget. In fact subjectivity is anti scientific. Subjectivity in UI design is what causes terrible UI design because the designers are generally far removed in skill from the target users. In extreme cases, coders make decisions about design. If that were how the Mac evolved we'd still be using command lines to draw arcs.

Besides, so far no one has been able tell me how to turn the dang thing off.
