Melting pot of many different "religions" is exactly why a Christian has to wear his banner on his forehead, not in the depths of any "personal" thing. What a tragedy!! Why even Paul in Athens found an alter to an UNKNOWN GOD, and used it to tell the peole of Athens who that God is.
President Bush has NEVER said he makes a better president than another because of his relationship, no but in fact, it is God that makes...not man.
but that does not mean we should as Americans ever indicate that one religion is better than another. Toleration of our differences is the ingredient that has made America as great as it has been in past.
I totally disagree with your moral relativism, it won't wash, but I DO believe just what Patrick Henry said:
“ It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been offered asylum, prosperity, and freedom to worship here.”
In the same vein, I too believe the gospel(good news) of Jesus Christ, but I have never stopped anyone of another faith from seeking life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness here.
