Art,

institutional holdings also include shares held by individuals in street name (i.e., the name of the firm holding their account)

I've been mulling that over since you wrote it and I'm wondering if you're right. If you are, roughly 265 million of QCOM's shares (all shares not owned by institutions) are held in the investor's name, not the street name. That doesn't seem reasonable to me.

Is it possible for you use your sources to easily verify your thinking? I've tried to find the definition of "institutional ownership" and have come up blank.
