The morning of his assassination, Lincoln created the Secret Service, its mission at that time was to eliminate counterfeiting. The information you posted makes a lot of sense. There's some good evidence, as you say, that Booth may not have been killed. Booth had black hair; some witnesses of the slain "Booth" said that man had reddish hair.
