I agree. When he came to office, I think he was a little naive -- thinking he could buy the cooperation of powerful liberals like Kennedy by giving Kennedy what he wanted. After all, this had worked great in Texas.

It didn't turn out that way -- basically, Bush gave Kennedy this horrible education bill only to Kennedy backstab him in other ways. The Farm Bill was another huge mistake. The only other bill of this nature has been the drugs bill, and frankly, it has some benefits down the road that may make it look better.

But the point is taken -- Bush COULD have fought harder against some of these liberal spending measures.

Let me net out what you just said...Bush is a political beast who sells the best interests of the American people to buy favor from his political enemies. In reality you have it wrong.

Bush tries to deceive his political enemies into thinking that he is giving them what they want, in practice he delivers measures that more often give his crony corporate supporters what THEY want, without regard for the effect these measures will have on future generations.
