The termonology is 'no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;'

For the last time:

Citizens "exercise" religion, they don't "establish" it.

Clearly the intent was to keep congress from interferring in any way with the establishment of religion or my right to freely excercise my form of worship. It prohibits congress from interfering with me and my folk and others in our establishing religion on our own terms. It prohibits congress from picking one and establishing laws about how that religion is supposed to work as well. Obviously it prohibits congress from making its own religion too ...duh.


No the intent was to prohibit congress from establishing a religion or interfering with our right to practice any religion of our choice. The government is not allowed to establish a religion. People don't "establish" religion just as lawyers don't establish laws. We "practice" or "exercise" our religions.

No, I'm not. You don't seem to get that I'm giving you an English lesson, not an argument about freedom of religion. Maybe Chris can explain it to you. I give up.
