The Vermont comment about "millions of families" in that interview is weird and irresponsible (to the point of comedy) hyperbole, you're right. As for Enron, I don't know. Just because they haven't contributed this election cycle doesn't mean that the quote below is entirely erroneous. (Enron is sure saving a lot of bribe money this election cycle, btw.)

Enron continues to be Bush’s top patron, still number one for him. [The excuse for that formulation is that if no other patron has surpassed Enron, it's still number one, though "continues to be" sounds intentionally misleading to me, too. -- E] We unearthed information revealing (former CEO) Ken Lay’s relationship with Bush. Enron, the Bush family – both father and son – and (Bill) Clinton have done 49 favors for the company. These favors included non-enforcement of certain laws and when the company called for deregulation of the energy industry, Bush supported the deregulation the company was seeking. Bush named the head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, who was installed at the recommendation of Ken Lay. FERC has been on a deregulation path. Bush had a close relationship with Ken Lay, who gave altogether $600,000 to Bush.

That sort of word trickery doesn't give one much respect for the source, certainly. If life were infinite, one could check each assertion, it might be an interesting exercise.
