Hello again, Maurice, <<Chinese>>

It turns out that about 6 percent of the natives here in Tahiti are of Chinese origin in some fashion, and they are preparing for a big lunar new year celebration.

We spotted but stayed away from the Golden Panda restaurant (I do not think the folks here, Chinese or otherwise, know what a panda is), but bought a drink at Chin Lee's, a Chinese operated grocery store.

One of the richest men in these islands is a gent by the name of Robert Wan, second or third generation Tahitian Chinese, owner of a half dozen pearl farms. His stuff can be found in the fancy stores around the world. One of his retail clerks took a month's living expense from my wife in trade for a single pearl mounted on a platinum bracelet.

Hong Kong? where is that?

Chugs, Jay
