They are small

" Recent reports say Kach and Kahane Chai have an overlapping core membership of several dozen as well as a larger number—perhaps several hundred—of less committed supporters"

I have never seen the exact number of members and I don't think anyone really knows but Kahane garnered over 26k votes in one election [a big number in a small country] and was elected to the Knesset.

They where banned because of a terrorist attack

"Israel outlawed Kach and its offshoot Kahane Chai (“Kahane Lives”) in 1994, a month after a Kach supporter shot and killed 29 Muslim worshipers at a West Bank mosque. "

Kahane supported terrorism as early as the early '70s. It wasn't until 1994 that Israel got around to banning them. BTW the two org. still exist today. Many of their supporters are in the settlements.
