well....I think you are right. I think that libertarianism is an ideal that lives on only as we can defend it in our own homes. It was doomed from the start.....and maybe that's the natural order of things.

I see similar analogies in the natural world. From the big bang to the birth and death of stars, individual nervous breakdowns (ok, ok, maybe I shouldn't have taken that last tab of acid).

The word that keeps on coming to mind is entropy. (here's where the big bang analogy comes to mind). We had a system and it is breaking down. And we can't stop it from breaking down either. And the only way to get back to the original system is to have a complete breakdown...to go back to zero and rebuild the foundation.

Anyway, much easier to discuss this over a pepsi and tequila then to try and put it to words here. All of the things you say are true....in our lifetimes, I don't expect the blame game to stop. We will always be looking to point our fingers at someone and always be expecting someone to protect us from the bad guys and put food on our plates and a roof over our head....regardless of the cost to individual integrity.

damn, I'm getting depressed writing that....
