Yes, with many tourists and snowbirds. If we had relaxed our emigration policy years ago, things would be different there now. Don't know exactly how, but through interaction some osmosis would surely have occurred.

I take your point about the concept of freedom. In small agrarian societies, an 'indigenous socialism' (as opposed to a socialism run by a vanguard movement) seems to work. At least it seems to work for the EZLN.

I posted the babalu blog more for its title than for its content. Most Americans think Desi Arnaz was just banging on his bongo, having fun with nonsense words. Little did they realize the spirit of Baba Loá was being invoked to descend on their lily white selves....
