There is SOME room to doubt Ricardo’s relevancy on the basis that there are SOME things going on that really are new under the sun. The Internet and cheap ubiquitous computing changes everything. He could never have foreseen the ability to transport mountains of stuff around the world for pennies. Ricardo saw a world of relative economic equals trading. Does his analysis work in a world of one giant trading with 1000 Lilliputians?
