>>>I'm not in the NE, and obviously you are far from convinced a Dem will win the WH in Nov or you'd take that bet.<<<
I'm convinced the DEMS will win the popular vote. Now, whether that's enough to win the presidency is quite another matter--as recently demonstrated from the last presidential election.
>>>Hispanics, dear boy, are a far more complicated subject than you think. But, living in the NE, I'm not surprised you think you know something about them but don't. You have the lowest proportion of them. census.gov In fact, the state I am in has twice as many as the entire NE.<<<
All I know is that Hispanics historically have sided with Democrats more than Republicans. Contrary to Bush's pandering to them, I don't think this will change.
>>>A bit more complicated than you think. Initial poverty draws them to the Democrats. But as they become more prosperous (and yes, they do), they move to the right because of the conservative values in their culture.<<<
Geez, Laz, I thought everyeone was going the other way--that the very rich are getting very richer and that the middle class was slipping into lower economic ranks. I didn't realize Hispanics were bucking the trend, especially enough of them to suddenly become Republican.
>>>The Dems in CA were planning on an explosion of Hispanics coming across the southern border to save them. You can see how well that worked in our last unscheduled gubernatorial election.<<<
I doubt Arnold would have done as well in California had he not had Maria by his side. This fact sort of made him a bit more tolerable to some folks who otherwise never would have supported him.
>>>Obviously you need a sop to your waning confidence. I can understand why it's waning.<<<
My confidence isn't wanning. 'Tis you doing this. Why? You went from an initial $300 to a $100 bet. Were my confidence "wanning" I wouldn't be upping my bet of a Guinness against a Guinness to a whole case of Guinnesses.
So here's the stakes should you accept them: I'll bet you a case of Guinness that the Democrats win the popular vote for the presidency. You on? Or is your confidence "wanning"--lol? |
