Since I'm originally from Jersey, I noticed that polling. Maybe the swing states will be somewhat different set this year. Virginia is entirely out of the running when it comes to swing states even though we sometimes elect Democrats as governor.

I used to support the electoral college idea, but I'm not so sure now. People knowing that their votes don't count is not a good thing.

Remember when the "Solid South" was Democratic?

I do remember that. But that change was more the parties changing than the voters changing. The parties have gravitated to ideological polarism. When the South was Democratic, both parties had a range of ideologies.
