We always have to choose among wealthy, privileged WASPs. A few pretend they aren't but who are we kidding, most are millionaire lawyers and businessmen who went into politics. Some were born to it and some made their money themselves. Doesn't make much difference to how they approach the Oval Office, IMHO.

A general is just a variation on the theme, another type-A attentionseeker who likes giving orders and being on top. Less chance to make money along the way, that's the only hitch.

To me, Kerry's service tells me he had the balls to put himself on the line instead of just talking about it. But in terms of understanding how the military and foreign policy really work, Kerry has vastly less experience than someone in Clark's position.

The idea that someone can gain foreign policy experience in Congress is a joke. I had to work on enough of their foreign visits to convince me of that.
