Daily Treasury Statement (DTS) on wages and salaries withholding for first week after XMAS (Mon. 12/ 29, 2003/ Mon. 12/30, 2002 through Friday before MLK Day: 14 days total. Should offer good clean look at early 2004 employment. The 4Q, 2003 was virtually flat, and this latest period is pretty close to trend, and indicates a continuing weak labor market:

2004: 97,249 vs. 2003: 98,340, minus 1.1%
