I've been trying to get my head around their approach to religious freedom. It just doesn't make sense to me to hassle people about beards or scarves. Of course it's hard to get a feel for the environment there. If people are wearing those things like gang colors, well, we don't let kids wear gang colors to school here and that seems reasonable to me. Hard to tell whether a scarf is just a scarf in France or whether it's a red flag. I can see the headlines now: woman arrested for wearing babushka to protect her new hair-do from the storm. Or riding in a convertible.
