That was a joke right? Even if you had 1 million shares, I doubt they would give you free glasses. Reason would say that you could afford to buy a pair yourself.
Wow, what a surprise, Oakley is down today. This stock actually trades down 70% of the time. And opens on a downtick 90% of the time. Lots of frustrated shareholders holding it. The idea of OO going into the shoe biz has obviously met a very cool reception in the market. It may point to the possibility of a company in trouble. They are being a little too secretive about the whole process. What is this so called breakthrough technology that they have found? Why are they mentioning the entry into shoe development now? Renee Law, the corporate communications rep for OO told me; "....the press release issued yesterday was necessitated by the increasing inquiries about future developments. Oakley felt that now was the best time to make investors aware of Oakley's intentions." If a company branches out into other businesses, this is often at the expense of the core business. It is a drag on the earnings when in development due to the new expenses of R & D, manufacture, introduction to market, etc...... In the long run, it could be positive for the company, but right now there is way too much uncertainty associated with it, especially considering their recent struggle to get their sunglass business on track. Consider this a bearish view on my part, and nothing more. Block sells today: 20,000 @ 12; 25,000 @ 11 7/8; 30,000 @ 11 3/4; 27,000 @ 11 3/4 and 18,000 @ 11 3/4. Best of luck........... |
