Essentially, there were two fronts for his vetoeing New Hampshire's '87 AIDS education bill: a) he obviously didn't wanna spend much money; and b) he didn't want condom education as part of a supposedly comprehensive AIDS education bill. I demanded that he call the legislature back to session in order to pass the bill--but this call fell on Sununu's deaf ears.

You say Sununu was bright? Well, it's my contention that part of being bright is possessing an ability to have a feeling for what's going on, especially where people are concerned. Sununu was (or is) bright enough to have a good baseball card collection, however. But, then again, Bush was into baseball--and look at how many Americans are dying and being wounded now!

It really is too bad that Republicans have to pander so heavily to the Christian Right. In my view, this makes them dim, not bright, on so many issues.
