To no one in particular:

Folks, here is an article I received this morning I thought might be
relevant. I have no interpretation other than neutral but, thought you
all might (or might not) want to read it. My immediate thought was a
compatible effort with our own beloved spawn. It is not intended to be construed as a hype, only info.

DENVER, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- RENTECH, INC. (Nasdaq: RNTK), the Denver- based developer of a patented, and proprietary process for the conversion of gases into valuable liquid hydrocarbons today announced that it has received its eighth patent related to the Company's gas-to-liquids conversion technology.

Rentech has been informed by the U.S. Patent Office that a new patent has been issued providing an additional claim for using their oxygenated diesel and naphtha as an additive to commercial diesel fuel for reducing harmful particulate matter emissions.

Rentech's iron-based catalyst produces a naturally oxygenated, clean- burning fuel which under the patent when added to commercial diesel fuel in "sufficient quantity" produces an oxygen content in the diesel fuel of at least 2% by weight without exceeding diesel fuel specification limits for viscosity. Rentech's President and CEO, Dennis L. Yakobson, commented on the patent: "The significance of the patent is that this sulfur-free, clean- burning diesel, an 'eco diesel' as it is sometimes referred to, provides for considerable cost savings both economically and environmentally. The economic benefits are that instead of building expensive desulfurization facilities for diesel you can easily blend Fischer-Tropsch's 'eco diesel' with commercial diesel for a fraction of the expense and achieve the same result."

Yakobson continued, "From an environmental perspective, by simply blending Rentech diesel with commercial diesel, you produce an oxygenated diesel fuel with reduced emissions."

This patent is the latest in a growing number of patents issued to Rentech for various aspects of its gas-to-liquids technology. Additional patent applications have been filed by Rentech with the U.S. Patent Office to cover certain unique aspects of the Company's technology.
