I don't see how standing and applauding when Poland is mentioned really does much to benefit our troops. It certainly provides no direct benefit. In theory it could be detrimental because it could cause Poland to pull out its troops in Iraq, or to fail to send troops next time we request their assistance, which could result in having too few troops in the area, putting our troops at risk.

Though I think that is unlikely, I doubt such a decision would be made on the basis of not standing or applauding, and if it was it would be a criminally negligent decision, imo. Decisions involving the lives of soldiers of any nation should not be made on the basis of standing and applauding when your nation is mentioned in another nation.
