Do any of you actually use CUC services?

When I invest in a company I usually try the company's products when I can. I had been interested in CUC and posted here in the past. In the interim I have used two of CUC's products, Auto(ad)Vantage and Traveler's Advantage.

I used the auto service to buy a car and found it satisfactory but note that similar services are now free.

Traveler's Advantage, on the other hand, was an unmitigated disaster. I found the representatives I dealt with were not exactly ethical and I was lied to several times. For instance, in a dispute they denied the existence of a CUC rep I had previously used and whose statements I had relied on. They also tried to make an unauthorized charge to my credit card, which my issuer fortunately rejected. After threatening to report TA to Connecticut's Attorney General my membership fee was returned.

I also found that Sabre's Travelocity site was far superior in getting better fares. That site is also free.

I realize this is anecdotal and these entities are but a fraction of the overall business yet still wonder if anyone here uses their offerings, especially in light of the similar or superior "free" services.

Regards
