My right brain must have chugged away on Social Security while I slept because I woke up with questions about the feasibility of what I suggested yesterday. I don't know how to means test Social Security so I have no business suggesting it.

Perhaps the folks who have talked about it for years have something in mind that is workable but I can't imagine what it is and don't have time now to research any proposals out there. It would seem we'd either have to make folks apply for it like we do now with welfare programs, which would entail a lot of bureaucracy, or we'd have to send checks to everyone and take it back at the end of the year from those whose incomes exceed the threshold via the income tax process. Either of those would be ugly. So I'm having second thoughts on means testing.
