Do you mean to say, freely subsidized by the Amerian taxpayer? when the money leaves the General fund to go elsewhere, the other taxpayers have to make up the difference to fund our own maintenance.

Those donations are write-offs against the donor's tax obligations.

What part of that don't you understand?
