Khang8537, you've stepped WAY ACROSS the line with your smirky assertion that Kerry murdered "a wounded youth." I'd suggest that you limit such remarks to anonymous internet boards or your like-minded pals who are willing to paint any non-right wing politician as evil. I'd certainly not recommend that you raise such views around veterans of any war or, in fact, around any thinking person with a sense of fairness. Speaking for myself, I know it would be a mistake to make such a vapid comment in my presence. I'd ask for a retraction or an apology and I'd either get it or I'd reveal you for the fool you are.

You see, in a war where real people get killed really dead, forever, the enemy is pursued and killed unless he is incapacitated or surrenders. That's the beginning and the end of it. Those of you who advocate the doctrine of "preemptive wars" should certainly be aware of that truism. In fact, you're essentially advocating KILLING people who haven't yet taken the first shot. Because after all, "they may try to kill us later, right?"

What really bothers you and the reason you are so begrudging of the heroism of a man who served his country, and who offered his life several times over to protect his men and to fight the enemy, is that it destroys your silly view of the character of those whose views oppose your own.

You think John Wayne, Ronnie Reagon and George W. Bush are "true American heroes." You think that people like Kerry and Clark have no character. It's a dose of reality for you to understand that men like Kerry walked through bullets to fight in Vietnam and to save men he barely knew. It's particularly hard to take when Wayne, Bush and Reagon never got within a sniff of ANY war.

W. Bush's character was forged in the parties of the 60's, 70's and 80's, basking in the luxury of wealth and power that had been handed to him with a silver spoon from his long line of wealthy ancestors. That same power that put him to the front of the list in the National Guard and dumped some other guy into the draft. That same power that placed him in the pilot program even though he tested in the bottom half in terms of aptitude. That same power that allowed him to fail over and over again in business only to bailed out at the last minute by wealthy men who needed and curried the favor of the Bush family and it's connections with business and government.

Question Kerry's politics, his intellect, his hair or whatever else you want, but never, EVER, denigrate the nobility of a man who has proven his mettle in the toughest of times while risking his very existence. If you do, you don't deserve the respect of any of the men fighting now, or any of us who do appreciate their sacrifices and feel sorrow for their wounds and deaths.

Your statement about Kerry reveals much more about who you are than it does about who Kerry is. Think about it.
