"How come none of you GOPwingers who post on this thread have this capacity (to offer criticism)?"
I for one do, as I believe most people do. But I have outlined many times that calling our President a liar, murderer, a cokehead, a drunk, someone who hates all other than the rich or comparing him to Hitler is criticism. I wish you guys could offer more than that. If you could, then intelligent arguments could proceed. But when they do that, I respond in kind as if a friend or family member had been attacked.
I may not understand the passage below completely, but it appears that this guy is saying we should take care of all rogue states ("if the USA comes to terms with all the rogue states of the world who were aligned with Moscow or Beijing in the Cold War, there would no enemies to guard against or to defeat") without mentioning how. If he suggests doing it Iraq style, you all would flip a twinkie. Since no method is offered as to how he would do it, there may be a good chance that the task is easier said than done. He then goes on to say "Public support for defense spending would dry up and the Pentagon would wind up living on crumbs, as it was in the 1930's.", which would be fine if you could really gaurantee that there were no threats to the freedom loving people of the United States. Idealistic and naive at best. Flat out stupidity is also a possibility. Note that after the '30s, when our military was weak, we got attacked by a country that wanted to take us over. We whupped them (and their freind Germany), and in the great spirit of the United States became fast long term and loyal friends with those we defeated. Germany seems to be backtracking at this point, but our friendship with Japan is strong. As I suspect it will be with Iraq once they have chance to run their own affairs. Wouldn't that be nice to have a friendly, prosperous ally in the mideast that offered freedom to their people? That is a possibility that seems to offend your side, yet is the goal of our side.
Good job actually putting up somthing to discuss though. I wish more people did. But until they do, I will sling mud at the people who sling mud at people that I admire.
Do you think I am interpretting this passage correctly? If not, what is he suggesting? |
