ElM, as India and Nigeria and Brazil show, there is a lot more to an economy than a crowd of people. Switzerland has few people but is very rich. There is no natural size for the USA. There is no norm and gravitational force sending it to that norm. What happens in human affairs is a function of the rich pastiche of human minds making up the totality. The philosophical foundations are far more important than the numbers. The few in Luxembourg financially outdo the multitude in Pakistan, though Luxembourg doesn't have nukes. Mqurice
