Ken, just out of interest, the USA presidential contest reminded me today of the way the America's Cup race works.

The champion rests on their laurels and putters around practising and looking presidential while the rest go in the Louis Vuitton Cup races to see who gets the nomination.

When the challenger is decided, the main event is run with the winner taking the America's Cup, the money, the glory [and the girls if they aren't married, or maybe even if they are].

For a while, one contender will look good. But then another challenger will come to the fore.

The incumbent has quite an advantage, but can easily lose it with blundering or some bad luck in the wind.
