Sam,

Couldn't we simply agree on the linguistics? I have no problem with condoms reducing risk, but the verbage of 'safe sex' is as politicized and non-medical as 'abstinence only' is unrealistic.

Just as many accuse this Government, the Islamic faith or Catholic Church of 'killing' people with an abstinence program, these folks could easily be accused of 'killing' by promoting a concept of 'safe sex' that doesn't really exist.

We should make condoms available, but we should also attach caveats like we do on cigarette packages.

By implying that sex can be safe with condoms, we create a belief in some that thay are invulnerable. This leads to promiscuous behaviour that leads to almost statistical certainty of infection.
