Hi Rambi,
re: "Bridges of Madison County did. No wait- that's not fair. Bridges left me gagging on the floor. It wasn't as bad as Celestine Prophecies""
I never read "Bridges" so I didn't have to "gag on the floor". But I knew I would.. Nice description though :)..
But I did read the "Celestine Prophecy" and I liked it at the time I read it. And maybe I liked it because at that time, I was looking for, like you say, a "simple magical answer", to the universe or whatever. As I look back on the various stages in my reading, I can relate the type of book to my various stages of life. That's not a profound statement, I know, but it's simple.. I like to make the simple, complex. <g>.. BTW, I got into CP so much, we are planning to go to Peru and hunt down some "prophecies" .. Not really, just kidding.. Peru is on, but "prophecies" are not, on the second thought, well maybe,.. never rule out anything,I say......:)
So now, I read much less in the way of books, and much more on the computer screen. Something that always doesn't work for me. :(.. So back to more books.. Talking about that, where my wife works, today, they held a fund raiser, a BOOK SALE.. A message maybe? She kept calling me, and asking me if I wanted this or that.. She even found a Edward Abbey book, I didn't have. Cheap too.. She ended up with a bag full..
Better stop and go do something..
Take care,
