I have a couple of friends who put windmills all over the world a la Altamont Pass. Problem with alternative energy is that it's damn hard to beat the price of oil at the pump. I think we'll have hybrids making serious inroads in the next ten years. The thing I like most about them is that they reduce emissions so much and they are quiet.

The final frontier is fusion. They are getting very close to break-even and when that happens all Hell will break loose.
