Hi Mq - fascinating link about your cousin. I suspect that there is something in Brit DNA that causes tolerance and even acceptance of behaviour others would reject as weird.

Re: Hiroshima. I was dead against it until I visited the Air and Space Museum exhibit about it a couple of years ago, and was mollified into reserving judgment, which is as far as I am likely to go. I accept that that the Japanese involved did a very poor job of informing the Americans that it wasn't necessary, and that the Americans involved thought that it was a good decision.
