Yukon is on the verge of reopening. United Keno Hill mine says it now has the final environmental
approval it needs and the chair of the board says he's going to be taking that straight to the bank. (Brian
Boyle) The silver mine at Elsa has been silent for almost 20 years now, however, the mines around Elsa
have been producing silver since the first world war and United Keno has been a major producer since
1947. United Keno's chairman of the board, Steven Powell, says the Yukon Territory Water Board has
now approved a water license. Powell says that's the last environmental hurdle he has to jump and he says
it's a vindication for the mine. (Powell) "It's a critical step because for so long a number of people, both in
the investment community, mining community and members of the public, have heard of Elsa as being an
environmental nightmare and would never get permitted. That's all horse shit." Powell says he's just
