Bush and the republicans are going to have to deal with david kay resignation and his conclusion re: wmds. It does appear now that the wmds did not exist. I have no real explanation why saddam comitted suicide by cop, but bush's inclusion of wmds in the SOTU made little sense. It is time to fess up that the worlds intelligence services were not so intelligent. Pass the buck to the CIA and find out how we all missed it. And although there are numerous other justifications for the war, the belief that there was an almost imminent danger may have nipped the iraq war in the bud for better or worse. Bush should take any hit sooner rather than later. All he has to do is to repeat what kerry says--that he was briefed and believed the intelligence reports. Yes, there is some danger in this but there will be more as the campagin moves into high gear and kerry(if the nominee) starts to sound statesmanlike. mike
