Art:

Good history on Kodak. Now I'm beginning to understand your comparison of Kodak v. SanDisk. It appears that Kodak had several chances to make investments in some form/process of digital photography, but chose not to do so. I guess you can chalk that up to ineffective management.

Your tests on performance are interesting. Did you per chance ever purchase one of those faster Lexar cards and run test?

RE: "....I don't think the brand name matters as much to the consumer as the price"

As an investor, you do not want SanDisk to be competing solely on *price* which in some ways implies the commoditization of FLASH or "drammification" if you prefer. (By the way, I do like that term "drammification")

There are several success stories such as Southwest Airlines and to a lesser extent Jet Blue (they don't have as long of an operating history) and Walmart. Those are two that come immediately to mind. Not that it wouldn't be "unachievable", I would think in order to implement that strategy "low cost", SanDisk would have to end its own "co-optetion" strategy and start building fabs to expand capacity.
