Still amounts to lying and denying the facts in front of them to serve their own ends. It's simply dishonest and unethical.

Agreed. And that's one of the reasons that I would compare it to typical environmental issues. There's a lot to gain by doing an end run around ethics and honesty.

I just had a call from an in-law in the US I hadn't spoken with in a long time. She wanted to know what I thought about all kinds of political issues she was following. She was very disappointed when I told here it was a screwed up mess that didn't have much hope for resolution, and hence didn't interest me much.

Interesting that you put it that way. Just talking about that over dinner with several people last night. We just try to ignore the whole U.S. thing as much as we can. If anything, it's good. Everyone has mentioned how they don't bother watching U.S. television anymore because it's so screwed up, etc... (I never watched it in the first place, but just interesting to hear that from so many others all of a sudden). Basically, I think there's a hell of a lot of "America fatigue" going around in the rest of the world. Probably the best thing if the rest of us just kind of try to ignore what's going on there. The only thing that's puzzling as hell to all of us is...(as we keep hearing)... "Where's the outrage?"

Barely a peep or a whimper, or so it seems....

gotta run.
