That is true. Our first commission of troops abroad was in the Mid East. And if Israel had existed, people would be blaiming the Barbary pirate problem on them.

My recommendation is that we start the long process of removing our dependency upon the area. That would mean abandoning oil use. One can dream of this. But its just not gonna happen till world resources get much more depleted and the price skyrockets.
