Europe was the low hanging fruit that the Soviets would have taken if they could before getting around to us.

I am not specializing at all. You are now.

Borrowing from your latest imagery...I would rather say...Europe "IS" the low hanging fruit the Soviets "DID" take.

You have to admit the Soviets did take much of Europe... I guess it is hard to imagine that long list of European countries were free of Soviet domination at one time but they were.

I recommend you read any historical book on Russian/Soviet Foreign Policy and another on European Geography and its influence on Politics.

And I disagree with you labeling the minefields as unimportant. That was where all the confrontation began and ended.
