Tenchusatsu, RE: "a system of "shared sacrifice" that takes away personal choice."

War isn't a personal choice during a recession when it is only a poor child that attends war essentially unwillingly due to financial reasons.

The contrast between the advantages the rich parents are giving their children (paid schooling/paid overseas touring trips into booming economic markets) during this recession is large and different than the poor parents whose children go to war for financial reasons.

Every war should require a certain small amount of a draft so everyone feels it; a draft of any person from a family with two or more children. This is the only way to get most everyone equally engaged on the issue.

The rich kids tour China, while the poor kids work in Iraq.
