Some things just make no since to me. It's easy to dismiss Bush supporters as "soft-in-the-head", and no doubt many are. But all? Surely not. Now among the subset that isn't dumb, some are just governed by self-centered greed, and don't give a damn about the country, but again all? Let's assume that there are some intelligent Bush supporters that are also patriotic. How do such people rationalize what is happening to the country they love? Real power is economically based. In this century, the US is going to face some serious challenges - see

Challengers to U.S. economic power predict substantial growth in coming decades

Rather than chase some illusory neo-con military hegemony, this is where the true challenge lies. Instead of preparing for that challenge, what do Bush & Co. do? As the Nobel laureate says, they loot the national treasury - guaranteeing the US will be a loser in the 21st century. This isn't just unpatriotic, it's traitorous. What's more it's blatant. It's not like people can't see it. So why do they keep supporting Bush?

Makes no sense.
