Yes, I agree, a digital registry of photos would be quite an asset. The logistics of setting it up would be tough though. However, definitely feasible. As for borrowing jewelry, etc... most taxonomic research tends to be done through museums, and they would already be well-accustomed to borrowing rare or expensive objects for study in their collections sections, so that end of things wouldn't be difficult to arrange. Anyhow, just an interesting aspect of jewelry which I don't think many people have given a lot of consideration to outside of those involved in botany or invertebrate taxonomy.

As for stories about goats eating jewelry. No, I don't think I have any of those. I did have a goat that would pull my baseball cap off by grabbing the brim, then run around the field flapping it up and down on top of the other goats' heads. The best part of all was that, after she had annoyed everyone with the hat, she would race back and put it back on my head and then cavort around doing big leaps and bounds. It was a damned fine show. (o:
