MEMC to License SiGen’s Bonded SOI Wafer Layer Transfer Technology memc.com Initial production of bonded SOI [and sSOI wafers] will take place at MEMC’s St. Peters, manufacturing facility. Samples for customer evaluation will be available May 2004. Interesting, since MEMC has been farting around with SIMOX. I guess they decided to get serious about it. <g> And so it goes: from SOITEC to SiGen to SiGen licensees, and soon the inventors are competing against a variation of their own technology. <g> This must be galling to SOITEC: "This agreement is consistent with SiGen’s focus on licensing, protecting, and strengthening its intellectual property." The sSOI will be done under a separate licensing deal with IMEC.
